October Event Information - Part 2

October Event Information
The mingle log for the October event is up! Please see the initial event info post for details on how the dream will work and what characters will be able to do within it.

It's also time for us to reveal the new imprint location for this event! Please note that while this location will be appearing in the physical world of the game after the event ends, it will not be exactly as it appears in this event. We wanted to go a little more wild with the details since everyone will be stuck here for the duration of the event, but it will be a bit smaller and more toned down once it settles into the void proper. Of course, that isn't to say those other features won't make a reappearance in the future...

Without further ado, welcome to your worst nightmare!

Event Location: Mementos, Heart of the World
Deep below the world's surface lies a maze of dark tunnels, connecting each of the train stations that exist in the above-ground. Something else has seeped out of this place, however, leaking into the sleeping minds of the people. A restless labyrinth built out of fear, reflecting the darkest nightmares the world can imagine...

Entrances may be found on the uppermost level of the maze, and it is here where the dreamers will find themselves. Though darkened and in disrepair, it appears to be nothing more than an abandoned subway station. The distant sounds of running trains can be heard deeper in, and a steady, humid breeze blows through the area, almost like breathing. There are stairs and pathways leading back to the surface... or, at least, they would lead back to the surface. Translucent membranes of flesh block all exits, and though they may look fragile, no amount of force can rip them apart. Attempting to bypass the barriers through any other method will also prove fruitless - even if you could somehow get past, the path ahead would only grow longer, longer, until the ground opens up at your feet or some new obstacle appears to stop you. Try as you might, escaping from the dream simply won't be that easy.

The only way forward is down towards the tracks, and as one descends the true nature of Mementos becomes more apparent. The tunnels are much larger than those found in an average train system, illuminated by a dim reddish-purple haze of light that permeates the area. Parts of the walls are made of thick muscle, curved and slick with an unknown organic fluid, and the connections between the walls and their respective ground and ceilings are sealed with networks of spidering veins. The upper parts of the walls are covered in a more translucent flesh, allowing one to peer into nearby tunnels and the areas in between. The ground is lined with modern-looking subway tracks, but no trains appear to be traversing through the walkable areas. Despite this, an echoing sound can be heard on occasion, along with the shadow of a speeding train in the distance or through the walls. Everything pulses and throbs as if alive, and the thundering beat of a distant heart can be heard no matter where you go. The flesh in the walls and ceiling cannot easily be destroyed, but will bleed and convulse violently if damaged.

There are several levels of elevation within each set of tunnels, connected by banks of escalators. Sometimes, a small rest area will form between levels, providing a small amount of peace and shelter to anyone traversing through the tunnels. The first couple of floors are relatively calm and there seems to be no end to them no matter what elevation you’re at, but the tunnels become more active the further one descends. The thin veins that previously only connected in corners now spread off of the walls like a large spider’s web, and the train tracks that were made of more conventional materials are now composed of hard bone and cartilage. Even the rest areas are not spared this treatment, with seating transformed into rows of carved teeth. Larger chambers can also be found in the lower floors, filled with unknown liquids, strange bulbous organs and tentacle-like appendages that hang down from the ceilings. Bridges of flesh and bone allow the tracks to pass through these chambers safely, so long as you're carefully not to slip and fall.

Like an immune system trying to expel a virus from its host body, the tunnels will fight back against anything perceived as a threat. Tentacles with fanged mouths at the ends can spring out of nearly any fleshy surface, attempting to devour whatever is causing a disturbance. If one is caught and swallowed, they'll be deposited into some other distant part of the system, likely alone and surrounded with dangerous nightmare creatures and other hazards. Thick walls of tentacles may also spring up to form a wall, stopping intruders from venturing too deep into the innermost layers. These walls can be broken down and torn through, but not without resistance and apparent distress to the living parts of the tunnel that has summoned them - loud, pained shrieks will ring through the tunnels until the wall has been damaged enough to recoil back into the floor.

Though reaching this chamber may prove challenging, no further physical deterrents will try to stop intruders that have found themselves here. Instead, an overwhelming aura of dread permeates this chamber, growing more and more intense as one approaches the heart itself. Attempting to damage the heart in any way is ill-advised - it would feel no different from striking your own heart, and the results would be just as fatal.

Mementos: Goro Akechi (Persona 5 Royal)
The Heart of Behemoth: Add (Elsword)

Just to clarify, since this location is taking place in a dream, it's possible for characters with power over dreams (or even perhaps sufficient lucidity) to essentially temporarily displace/replace it with a dreamscape of their choosing? Like taking a random room and instead making it into a meadow under an open sky for a little while, for example.

Okay, that's about what I figured, but I wanted to be sure! Essentially imposing his will on an area to make it appear different, but still bound to that area.

One other thing that slipped my mind powers-wise though: Merlin possesses the very godmodey power of Clairvoyance, his specific flavor of which in canon allows him to see/observe any place he wishes in the present. Aside from obviously getting permission from any players whose characters he might want to spy on, will he be able to simply just... use his clairvoyance to look around and 'explore' the tunnels without having to actually bother walking through them?

What might Psychic or empathic Pokémon/characters read from their surroundings, if anything, under the assumption that they're inside a living thing?

A few questions!

I'm not killing Ren, but I am making him very injured. I'd like to know how those can be handled! Will they heal normally in the dream? Will they remain once he wakes up?

Question number two! What would happen if someone did damage to the heart with non-material things? A Pokémon or a Persona?

Question three, I Swear I Will Stop, will they get hungry in the dream?

Thank you so much Mods!

Are the tunnels large enough to accommodate very large nightmares that take a lot of space?

If Indigo used her Matter Manipulator to collect some of the event location, would it still be in there when everyone wakes up (if inaccessible since her Manipulator wouldn't function in the "real world" yet)?

Okay, so.

Electronics are working, here, so Damien's phone will work and he'll have access to his hacker's toolkit for the duration of the event. On one hand, that doesn't mean much, as there's not a whole lot here that's technological and not organic. On the other, though, as far as Damien's aware even before realizing it's a dream, if he even realizes it is a dream, is that it's based on something from Ren's world and that an individual's perceptions of things and cognition and such are all very important. Not to mention the fact that he's still not entirely sure the Void itself isn't something like what's going on in The Matrix, technologically based, under all the set dressing.

All that being said, could Damien hack Mementos, despite it not being technological? Like make something explode, to kill or injure creatures that are part of the nightmare? Maybe insert some extra space between him and encroaching lava, so he or whoever he's with has more time to get away? That kind of thing? I imagine it would be tied to his phone, since that's his perception of the source of his power, so if he lost or had it taken from him, he wouldn't be able to do anything, but.

And sorry for being so wordy, just to ask if he can hack the setting. I needed to work through my logic out loud, to make sure it made sense. :P

idk why I didn't think of this before, but! Merlin's had one of those rabbit-bird things following him around/kind of a pet but he'd never admit it since pretty much the start of the game. It's part running gag and part ICly he sees potential use as a familiar if/when he can use powers again. Since pets CAN be in the dream too, and powers are active, if Merlin were to take advantage of that to get started on the process of making an animal into his familiar, would that work? Or would anything he did in the dream be undone upon waking?

I figured as much! Would the critter though at least remember anything that happened in the dream, in case that would still influence its behavior even without the proper familiar bond in place?

Re: DEATH REPORT

Player: Jade
Character: Goro Akechi
Cause of Death: One of Akechi's current great fears/nightmares is that he'll end up hurting Ren, either deliberately or by mistake. This has given rise to a walking manifestation of one of his other nightmares, the fake cognitive self that killed him in canon. This doppelganger is part dangerous murderer, part fake-good-boy personality, all with the intent to cause as much destruction as possible.

The fake Akechi is going to try to kill Ren; Akechi's going to shove Ren out of the way and take first the magical blow meant for Ren, then a bullet directly between the eyes from the cognitive double, killing him instantly.
