Imprint Update

▶ We have moved the majority of information related to imprints from the Imprints page to the FAQ. The "new" and updated FAQ questions have been marked, though they are mostly unchanged. This is mostly to cut down on duplicate information between the two pages and keep the imprints page brief.
▶ In addition to the not-new "new" questions, there is also an actually new question on the FAQ clarifying the difference between organic imprints and "non-organic imprints", which have been named canon imprints. These will be referred to as imprint methods from now on.
▶ Influence may now be spent as soon as your AC has been submitted for the month and your new influence totals have been calculated. You are still limited to only one canon imprint per month, however, and this will include the imprint submitted on your app.
▶ Influence costs for all regains have been reduced from 10/20/30 to 10/15/20.
11 new imprints have been added to the game’s setting, including 3 locations and 2 unique species. This information will be copied to the Locations and Bestiary pages shortly.
As we are anticipating a much smaller app round this month, we are holding on to the final 4 imprints in the queue for the upcoming intro log.
If you have any questions for the mods about the newly added imprints, you can leave a comment in the questions thread below. You may also use the comments section of this post to discuss plotting ideas with other players.
New Location: Merlaut Apartments
Sitting atop one of the higher cliffs near Mortis Lake is a large steel building covered in gleaming windows. Paved pathways weave around the trees and towards the entrance of the building, which is marked with a large sign reading "Merlaut Apartments" in two completely different fonts. The inner lobby is exactly what you'd expect from a luxury hotel. The receptionist counter is equipped with comfortable chairs and modern computers. Modern art pieces can be found decorating the walls.
Despite appearing to have a large number of floors from the outside, only the first three floors of the building seem to exist at this time. The elevator only has buttons for the first three floors, and the stairs going up to the fourth floor end at a blank wall.
The first three floors of the building have 10 one-room apartments each, numbered 101-110, 201-210, and 301-310. All of the apartments are identical, down to the placement of blank scraps of paper and half-empty coffee cups left laying around. They all come with a desk, a cheap laptop computer, a messy single bed, a kitchen sink filled with mold and an unidentified green liquid, a fridge that contains only a single carton of spoiled milk, a small bookshelf, a window that's been held open with a blank book, and a healthy succulent on the windowsill.
The Merlaut Hotel: Damien Brenks (WATCH_DOGS)
Alys' apartment: Turing (2064: Read Only Memories)
New Location: The Lemon Cello Church
A tall stone building stands in the middle of the forest surrounding Mortis Lake. From the outside, the building is clearly recognizable as a Gothic-style church with tall stained glass windows. Hanging above the double doors is a hand-painted sign with an image of a lemon and a cello. The same image can be found on red banners that hang on the inside of the building. The main doors open to lines of even spaced pews mixed randomly with café-style wooden seating. The floorboards seem to be made of a couple different types of wood, and some of the stone pillars along the sides of the room appear to have somehow been broken and partially repaired with different materials. Looking up reveals that there was once a large uneven hole in the ceiling as well, though it has been patched up in a similarly mysterious manner.
Instead of an altar, a glass display case filled with sweets and baked goods is located at the back of the church. Lemon-flavored cakes are most prominently featured, though there are other common flavors as well. White and yellow lilies decorate the inside of the display, mixing pleasantly with the strong lemon scent. More lilies can also be found in the garden that's growing in the center of the church - literally, as the large hole in the floor is the only area of the church that's been left unpatched.
The Lemon Cello: Eleytheria (Original)
Aerith's Church: Aerith Gainsborough (Final Fantasy VII: Remake)
Updated Location: Mount Silver
The faster route is a system of caves that go straight through the base of the mountain - however, the terrain is exceedingly difficult and requires a great deal of climbing and swimming to navigate. An abundance of small colorful fish can be found in the mountain's rivers, though they seem strangely absent from all other bodies of water within the world. The deepest areas of the cave can only be reached by ascending waterfalls or crossing fast-moving rivers that lead out to Takoba Beach. At the center of the mountain, most easily accessed from the beach-side entrance, is a wider cave area containing the Wall Market.
New Location: Wall Market
Located in a large cave near the center of Mount Silver's tunnel system is the Wall Market. The rivers in this area of the cave have been diverted into evenly spaced canals that run along the edges of the room, with stone benches and plain concrete walkways connecting into multiple exits.
The market features a wide variety of stores, buildings and tents in various states of dinginess and disrepair. Large neon signs and strings of colored lights decorate the upper areas of the cave. Korean BBQ and sushi can be found at some of the food stands, as well as a variety of bottled drinks and alcohol. However, most of the stores and buildings are completely empty on the inside.
The aptly named "Bathhouse in Wall Market" is a clean, Japanese-style bathhouse with a connected laundromat. It has a changing room with lockers, a shower room, and a room containing a large bath with various buckets and stools for guests to use. Strangely, the colorful fish that are common in the Mount Silver rivers can also be found in the baths, and can sometimes be spotted popping out of the taps.
Wall Market: Cloud Strife (Final Fantasy VII: Remake)
Koi streams: Osomatsu Matsuno (Osomatsu-san)
Bathhouse in Yongen-Jaya: Goro Akechi (Persona 5)
New Species: ???
About three foot in length, these furry creatures run around on all fours but often choose to stand on their hind legs when resting or watching those around them. They are most commonly found in Mt Silver, particularly in the Market areas, but seem to like being around buildings and structures in general. While they are quite shy and prone to hiding when seen, they are gentle and friendly creatures. Although they do not speak, they are able to understand spoken language clearly.
They have very large paws, and while not inclined to bite unless threatened they also possess sharp teeth and strong jaws. Their most notable feature, however, is their long tail that secretes a colored paint from its brush-like tip. This is used not only to mark territory, but also to create graffiti and artwork over any surface they deem suitable. As each individual has a different color paint, groups of them may come together to create large and colorful murals.
Due to their love of painting and their friendly nature, they are quite willing to draw for someone who successfully befriends them. They prefer quieter, gentle people who are nice to them, and will hide themselves away if someone mistreats or insults them.
Moomba: Rinoa Heartilly (Final Fantasy VIII)
Smeargle: Professor Samuel Oak (Pokémon)
New Species: ???
These small, plump, bird-like creatures are about the size of a soccer ball, and are commonly found throughout the region. They are most commonly found in the wooded areas, as they tend to favour low ground, and the foliage gives them some protection from flying predators. They have especially dexterous feet, which resemble the hands of the people around them.
Though they possess what might be described as 'wings', these creatures are featherless, flightless, and brainless. They are docile creatures, and as well as being easy prey for hunters and predators alike, they are also easily captured and tamed. They do not appear to think of people as a threat to their existence, and will often approach them out of apparent curiosity.
All of these particular creatures are capable of laying 'eggs', which they do infrequently and at random. These eggs will never hatch into more animals, but if eaten, they... taste like eggs.
Chickens: Lan Wangji (The Untamed)
Nugs: Cole (Dragon Age: Inquisition)

QUESTIONS

With the addition of Wall Market and the neon signs and lights, do the lights only work in that area and not the rest of the world?
Also another Important Question - is the supply of Korean BBQ and sushi limited to what came with the imprint, or will there always be some there?
no subject
The food that came in with Wall Market is "limited", though until time grows more stable it's entirely possible for it to reappear even if someone takes it all. Or it might not! Chalk it up to time travel. The same applies to pretty much any generic objects in the setting.

Thank you!! :D

Another question! Since friction exists in the world currently, would characters be able to generate heat (and potentially fire) through rubbing sticks together or striking stones to create sparks? Does fire generate light... I know last time I asked re: fire it might or might not work; as Akechi would assume that fire would create light, is it safe to say if he could put together a torch he'd be able to get into the caves? (before the wind inevitably blew it out because of course he can't have anything nice)
Is it safe to assume the book propping all the apartment windows open is title-less and blank, and they're all the same book?
Also also!! thank you for everything you guys do, I'm very excited to play in the setting!!

Maybe! What we meant by our original response to the fire question is that, if something ordinary hasn't been defined in the setting yet, the answer is open to be interpreted by the player however they'd like. You can think of it as the character's personal influence having an effect on their immediate surroundings. "Fire" is not something the world has defined at all yet, so it won't appear naturally within the setting. However, if Akechi knows what fire is and personally believes he can create it, he can subconsciously influence the world to allow that fire to exist... maybe. Since this is only the power of one individual at work, it might not work, or it might behave strangely. "Light" has been defined as only coming from the sky, so the fire he creates might not even give off light! But ultimately we would like to give players the freedom to explore these ideas in ways that are fun to them, rather than making only hard rules about how the world works. We'll try to make all of that clearer in our next FAQ update.
As for the books in the apartments, you're right on the mark! They're all the exact same blank book. We'll add that to the description since them all being identical is a feature, in this case.
