New Player Apps & Organic Imprints

Our next new player app cycle will open on September 5th at 12:00 AM (UTC).
New player reserves will open in 2 hours from now, on August 30th at 12:00 AM (UTC). Please note that reserves will last one week from the day they are placed.
Since this will be our first app cycle under the new system, the full details of how the new player queue will work can be found on the Applications page.
As previously stated, nothing is set in stone and we're open to making changes to this system in the future based on player feedback. Please let us know if you have any questions, suggestions or concerns about the new app queue in the feedback thread below. Comments from players not currently in the game are also welcomed and appreciated!
Organic Imprints
A new page dedicated to organic imprints will be going up on September 7th. This page will allow players to submit threads as consideration for organic imprints as well as make it easier for everyone to keep track of what concepts and changes are currently being explored. We need a little more time to set everything up, so please have patience with us!
In the meantime, we'd like to remind everyone that there is a form at the top of the Locations page for physical changes characters have made to locations within the setting. We have also added new options to the Bestiary page for Name Suggestions and Species Assignment.
New Imprints
Lastly, we have a new round of organic changes! 3 locations, 2 species and 2 concepts have been updated with the changes below. This will be reflected on the Locations, Bestiary and State of the World pages shortly.
If you have any questions about these changes, you can leave a comment in the imprint questions thread below. You may also use the comments section of this post to discuss plotting ideas with other players.
Updated Location: Bathhouse in Wall Market
The aptly named "Bathhouse in Wall Market" is a clean, Japanese-style bathhouse with a connected laundromat. It has a changing room with lockers, a shower room, and a room containing a large bath with various buckets and stools for guests to use. A handwritten sign has been pasted in the entry area explaining the rules for the bathhouse. If anyone breaks one of the rules, they will suddenly find themselves standing outside of the building's entrance.
- Take off your shoes.
- No clothing in the bathing area.
- Shower before entering the bath.
- No running.
- No towels in the bath water.
- No fish in the bath water.
Updated Location: Takoba Beach
Objects of various sizes wash up on the beach frequently, though it’s unclear where it all comes from. Unlike the trash that still covers most of the beach, however, anything new that washes up will be new, fully intact and completely functional, even if the water should have been enough to damage it. Sometimes items will still be in their original packaging or require assembly. It's random what objects wash up and when, but furniture, decorations and household electronics are the most common.
Updated Location: The Void
Along the edges of the void near the defined areas of the world, a number of different musical scores can be found scribbled on the ground in black marker. The size and length of each piece varies, and some of them feature titles such as "An Ode for a Gentle World", "I Haven't Slept In Who Knows How Long And Now Our Benevolent Kidnapping God Made Me Hungry, Ugh!" and "Hey, Let's Talk Or Sing Or Whatever You Like!".
If one stands near a score for long enough, they'll eventually hear a light, pretty voice humming the tune from further out into the void. The voice will never get closer, but it'll fade away once they enter a different area.
Updated Concept: Communication
Imprinted scenery may contain written language in the form of signs, simple phrases, and musical scores. However, anything that goes on for more than a couple sentences will degrade into gibberish. Writing left behind by characters or items brought in on arrival are unaffected by this.
Books that exist as part of the scenery will either be blank, filled with random words and letters, or contain elaborate musical scores. All books containing music will be credited to Leo Tsukinaga and have titles such as "An Ode for a Gentle World", "I Haven't Slept In Who Knows How Long And Now Our Benevolent Kidnapping God Made Me Hungry, Ugh!" and "Hey, Let's Talk Or Sing Or Whatever You Like!". The music won't always match the title, and after a certain number of pages it degrades into nonsense, as if the piece were continued by someone who doesn't actually know what music is.
Updated Concept: Time
Time is unstable and prone to frequent "hiccups". While not being directly observed it will seem relatively normal, though time may actually speed up or slow down randomly for individuals. If someone is actively keeping track of time it will remain accurate and consistent for that person.
Occasionally, someone will notice time behaving strangely or not lining up properly with another person. If the mistake is acknowledged out loud, time may suddenly be reversed and repeated for those affected in order to "correct" the mistake, undoing everything they've accomplished within that time frame. Affected characters will still remember everything that happened the first time around, and other characters may experience a moment of déjà vu, though it's possible a second repeat will occur if new characters become aware of the loop.
Characters that frequently point out mistakes in time and experience repeats will find that time behaves much more consistently while they're around.
Updated Species: Machines
People may also be classified as machines. Machine people within 100 yards of each other may link their minds together, allowing them to share information in the form of language, images and emotions. All participants must be willing and within range of at least one other person in the mindlink to maintain it.
Updated Species: Dragons
People may also be classified as dragons. Dragon people may inherit additional draconic traits aside from those that they arrived with.
