March Event Information

Taking place mainly in and around MARKETzone, VoidCon is a free-to-enter event that has been built to celebrate the denizens of the Void and their contributions to the world, however unintentional they may have been. Those walking around the world will likely have already seen flyers advertising the event. As the date gets closer, job postings related to the con will also start appearing at the job board in Messiah Station Square - tasks such as cleaning up the unused spaces in MARKETzone, testing arcade machines, stocking food stalls and handing out flyers... as well as less conventional tasks, like walking around in a potato-cat costume - the lovable, slightly puzzling mascot of VoidCon.
Early on the 15th, a large banner and registration desk will suddenly appear at the entrance to Mt. Silver’s caves, with lanyard badges for each character laid out for them to take as an official Guest of Honor. Blank cards for a stamp rally will also be available for anyone to pick up, with special tasks for each stamp. An event bonus may be claimed by threading out at least one of the stamp prompts with another character. What, exactly, will these stamp-tasks entail? You'll have to wait until the convention to find out!
Besides the guests of honor, large crowds of brushboys will also be filling up the convention space once the event begins, seemingly drawn in by the displays and booths filled with artwork. What's a con without furries, after all? Some may even appear to be manning the booths themselves, creating new artwork to “sell” to characters and happily accepting whatever objects are offered to them as payment.
Merchandising Opportunities
Speaking of artwork, convention tables and booths will be scattered between MARKETzone’s game cabinets, displaying various goods that can be browsed and “purchased” (no transaction will actually be necessary, but tips in gacha gems are appreciated). Each booth specializes in various kinds of merchandise that all feature characters that have inhabited the Void, past and present. Examples of merchandise include charms, standees, mugs, pins, t-shirts, stickers, plushies, and sometimes more unusual items like underwear or garbage bags. Characters may also find an abundance of merchandise depicting cute and colorful renditions of the local animal population, as well as the arcade's potato-cat mascot (or merchandise of characters dressed as these creatures).
Prints and posters of every character who has been in-game will also be on display in several booths, rendered lovingly in a colourful anime style and signed by “Kyo”. How they are depicted varies, with characters just as likely to find themselves depicted faithfully as they are to find themselves dressed as royal coffee shop baristas. The mysterious artist will also pen written works to be displayed and read by convention attendees, featuring characters past and present. These stories will vary wildly in characters involved and in genre, from action-adventure to tropey romantic comedies. The author doesn’t seem to have paid much attention to characterization, but maybe it’s the thought that counts?
Everyone is welcome to make up whatever bizarre fanfic crossover ideas they'd like for these stories, though we do ask that you get permission from another player before including their character in your ideas. The same goes for other types of imagined fanworks and merchandise - it's all meant to be in good fun, so please be considerate of others before saying your character found something offensive or insulting about someone else!
Holo-Life
Newly installed in one of the previously empty arcades, now brightly lit and blaring loud music, is an elaborate VR game set-up where elements of people’s worlds are combined to create video game levels using holograms and other advanced technology. The set-up is completely interactable, and characters with special powers will find that their powers have been simulated within the VR area as though an intended part of the game. Powers can also be turned off or swapped by “unequipping” them through the game’s virtual menus. If the game is too easy, why not try it with someone else’s powerset?
The games themselves also change hourly, and vary in genre and style. Examples might include a fantasy setting where monsters and bosses must be defeated by idol-inspired dance, a monster dating sim set in an ordinary Japanese high school, or a dark dilapidated cityscape for a relaxing crop-growing experience.
Event Bonus
As previously mentioned, an event bonus of +5 influence will be available during VoidCon. To claim the bonus, you must complete an AC-length thread of your character obtaining (or attempting to obtain) at least one stamp for the stamp rally. You will only need to thread out one stamp thread to receive the bonus, though you are welcome to complete multiple prompts if you’d like. These stamp activities will be listed as part of the event log’s prompts, and there will be a variety of options for characters to choose from based on the various activities and booths available around the convention.
Once you have completed your thread, it may be submitted as part of your March or April AC under the “Other Bonuses” part of the form. Comments posted in either March or April will be valid for the event bonus, as long as they total to 5 comments from your character. Event threads may also be reused for regular AC submissions.
The deadline for the bonus will be until April 30th 11:59 PM (UTC).
Questions?
And that’s it for now! If you have any questions, please leave a comment on this post and we'll get back to you as soon as possible. You’re also welcome to post suggestions in the comments for other con activities, games or fanworks that other players might want to use!
