Early March Imprints & Updates

Early March Imprints & Updates
Species Naming Poll: Interim Reminder
As mentioned in our last update, the current round of the Species Naming Poll is open until the end of March 11th. Make sure to get your votes in before then!

Upcoming Events
March's event will be centered around the concept of fandom, and will involve the debut of VoidCon, the world’s first annual celebration (and commodification) of itself and the characters that inhabit it. More details will be posted on the 10th alongside the monthly plotting/CR meme, but you can expect themes of fanfiction and merchandise as well as some special activities leading up to the event. Flyers for the event will also begin appearing all over the world starting today - you can see some examples of what might be found on them in prompt C of our newest Test Drive Meme!

April's event will be centered on a location instead of a concept. It will mainly feature elements of exploration, but it will also serve as an opportunity to contribute to the game's overall structure and potentially form the basis of an overarching player character-driven metaplot. As for the where and what might be found... perhaps there are already clues waiting to be discovered?

New Imprints
5 new canon imprint has been implemented from the queue. Our current imprint queue is now at 15 imprints.

Today's round of changes includes 3 location updates, 2 species updates, and 3 concept updates. This information will be copied to the appropriate pages shortly.

If you have any questions for the mods about the newly added imprints, you can leave a comment in this post down below.

Ley Line Movements
New ley line deposits have sprung up in the following locations:
  • On the ground underneath the Chicago L Station platform.
  • Next to the trash heap holding up the masked statue on Takoba Beach.

Updated Location: Mementos, Heart of the World
Several areas of the tunnels have been messily cut and hacked apart, as if by a serrated blade, creating shortcuts between adjacent areas that have become overrun with thick, tangling vines covered in alyssum.

Updated Location: Hammerlocke Citadel Ruins
Past the main lobby is an entrance to a sports dome, the main area of the castle. The arena contains a large amount of spectator seating, two jumbo TV screens, and more tattered banners. The roof of the dome has partially collapsed, leaving a pile of rubble in the middle of the arena and allowing snow to pile up in the stands.

A pair of twin stairwells cut through opposite sides of the dome through the spectator seating to lead to a higher tier above one of the jumbo TV screens. Strangely, the flooring of this tier has been covered with asphalt, and at its center sits a large, opulent throne, decorated with fanned out branches of gold that have long since tarnished. Carved into the back of the throne is a list of names matching those of the people who have been brought to this world - the ones who are no longer present have been crossed out with a single carved line.

Hammerlocke Stadium: Raihan (Pokémon)
Snowy ruins: Madeline/Badeline (Celeste)
The Citadel: Noctis Lucis Caelum (Final Fantasy XV)
Cenotaph: Arashi Narukami (Ensemble Stars!)

Updated Location: Kichijoji Aerial District
The Wish Shop takes up the ground floor of one of the district's buildings. The exterior is built entirely out of wood, seemingly unhindered by the heavier materials that make up the rest of the tall building, and features traditional Japanese sliding screen doors along all of its walls. A short entryway with wooden double doors sticks out of the front of the building as its main entrance. The interior matches the same aesthetic and has various extra rooms that can be accessed through more screen doors. At the back of the main room is a large ornate couch in front of a bright red curtain, though there is also a stairwell entrance and elevator next to it that matches the more urban look of the rest of Kichijoji.

The other rooms on the Wish Shop floor carry on the same Japanese aesthetic, though they are currently completely empty aside from dust. The sliding doors on the walls may be opened to access the outside directly.

Kichijoji: Kasumi Yoshizawa (Persona 5 Royal)
The Aviary: Lysandra K. Weiss (Original Character)
Yūko's shop: Kimihiro Watanuki (xxxHOLiC)

New Species: ????
A piranha stubby that has taught itself to harness the basics of elemental magic may evolve into this far more dangerous creature. These carnivorous plant-machine hybrids have retained the polka-dots of their base form, but their bulbous heads have now grown much larger and bloomed into a flower with large, billowing petals. They hunt by burrowing under the sands of Takoba Beach, leaving their vibrant flower above ground to lure in unsuspecting prey before forcefully chomping down on them with a row of hidden teeth. They are much more vulnerable when above ground, and can be paralyzed if struck directly on the flimsy metal that makes up their lower bodies.

There are currently two varieties of this species: those with red colouring are aligned with fire and prefer to burn their prey after snapping down on it, while those with blue colouring control ice and will freeze whatever gets caught between their petals, immobilizing it for easy consumption.

Whopperflowers: Zhongli (Genshin Impact)
Stubbies: 2B (Nier: Automata)
Piranha Plants: Bowser Koopa (Super Mario)

Updated Species: ????
These flora-fauna hybrids are partially sentient tree fruit that draw their sustenance from underground ley lines. Their fruits come in a variety of shapes, colors and flavors, but differ most radically based on the environments they grow in. These environments, when combined with the mana from nearby ley line deposits, give the fruit minor elemental properties.

Small, round, greenish-yellow fruits can be found on trees in wide and open areas. When picked, they will inflate themselves to three-times their original size by sucking in air like a balloon, though they will deflate back to their original size if poked with something sharp. They are light and crisp when bitten into; the smaller the fruit, the more satisfying their sweet-tart flavor is. Eating one of these fruits will grant a potent infusion of mana comparable to that of a ley line deposit, as well as give you minty fresh breath.

New Concept: Infection
Infection may occur when a physical cut or wound is not properly treated. To count as “treated”, a wound must be washed with water and covered up with another material, such as a bandage - these are the only requirements. When an infection occurs, the affected area will not heal and the infected person will experience mild fever symptoms until the injury is treated.

If the infection remains untreated for more than 1 week, the wound will begin to sprout tiny vines and flowers that will slowly spread and cause additional pain. These plants must be removed down to their roots before the infection can be treated. If the infection is allowed to spread too deeply, surgery may be necessary to fully remove the roots.

Emotional infection is a variant of infection that affects emotional wounds, typically caused by rejecting one's true feelings or keeping painful secrets. Those who become afflicted by an emotional infection will also experience mild fever symptoms as well as coughing and tightness in the chest. To treat an emotional infection, the infected person must confront and overcome their emotional hang-up - for more serious and deeply-rooted issues, speaking to another person is the most effective method.

If an emotional infection is untreated for more than 1 month, the infected person will begin to sprout flowers within their chest and lungs, causing them to cough up blood and flower petals. Their other symptoms will also become more intense and painful. If the emotional infection continues to remain untreated for an additional month after this stage, flowers may begin growing out of the body from within the chest and spread outward in a similar manner to physical infections.

Once a late-stage emotional infection has been treated, all of the vines and flowers will shrivel up and need to be ejected from the body naturally. Fever symptoms may persist for up to one week.

New Concept: Magic
Magic is the ability to harness the power of mana and use it to manipulate the various elemental forces within the world. Any living being has the potential to learn magic, but it is something that must be learned and practised in order to master, and certain creatures and people may have a stronger affinity for one particular type of magic over others.

As magic requires mana to use, mana must be "charged" by absorbing it from a ley line deposit before it can be used; when an individual has used all of their excess mana, they must recharge it again to continue using their magical abilities. How much mana a person can store and how efficiently they can use it varies between individuals, but those who are more experienced with magic generally have a much higher efficiency.

Currently, there are six basic elements that magic can be used to control: ice, water, wind, lightning, fire, and earth. These elements may be manipulated in the form of conjuring and telekinetically controlling the respective element - the element will still follow any existing rules or logic that the world has assigned to it. Those inexperienced with magic will have difficulty conjuring or controlling anything larger than themselves.

Updated Concept: Supernatural Powers
The world currently has a limited understanding of supernatural powers. If your character already had one of the following abilities before arriving in the world, they may use them. If your character’s version of the ability is in a gray area or includes aspects that aren’t mentioned, please use the mod contact post or FAQ before using that ability.

Elemental control is the ability to conjure and manipulate elemental forces such as fire, water, wind and earth. These abilities may be used at a basic level, and will require the channelling of mana from ley lines in order for characters to use them. Large and powerful elemental abilities, such as freezing the ocean or causing massive explosions, should not be used by characters without mod permission.
